We now have two sheds which hold sessions on a Wednesday and Thursday and are attended by regular groups of “shedders”. The Little Canfield shed is on the site of the community cooperative Local Food (&more!) and the second shed is in Barnston on the Rainbow Rural Education Centre site.
We have recently acquired a container which we are adapting to become a shed venue in Harlow and are progressing well with a potential shed site in Saffron Walden. Future venues include trialing “virtual” sheds for those unable to attend a traditional shed venue.
Our Shed Coordinator Susan Hastings-Herbert supports each shed with set up, training, recruitment of volunteers and safe working practices.
The Shed Project has been supported with private donations of power tools and other equipment from local people, allowing us to equip our sheds to a high standard.
West Essex Community Sheds are funded by Essex County Council and the West Essex Clinical Commissioning Group, through the Independence, Choice & Control Fund
